I may have a requirement for using a Windows 2008 Server Core installation and would like to know if there are any security benefits. Is it more secure than a full installation?

Yes, a core installation is more secure than a full installation. The main advantage would be the greatly reduced attack surface. It will also use less resources and require less patching. It should also start up a bit faster :)

The main disadvantage it the lack of a GUI to manage the server.

Hope this helps!

Dave
