I'm trying to use Windows Update to install KB967723 but it fails with the following message:

Code 80070490 Windows Update encountered an unknown error.

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070490: Security Update for Windows Server 2008 x64 Edition (KB967723).


Has anyone else encountered this problem? It happens on more than one server. They are both Windows 2008 Standard Edition x64 running SP2.

Has this update already been installed? You can check in Control Panel -> Programs and Features

Yes, it is already installed. Can I stop it trying to install it again?

I've not had any isses with this. Maybe they updated it and it fails because it's already there. You could remove it through control panel and re-install it, or right-click on it and select hide.
