SM Bus Controller problem and I need that for the sound.

Reinstalled Windows XP and there is a soundcard problem. I know what to do but I don't know exactly what driver I need. My father installed a new soundcard sometime ago before the system crashed having me to reinstall everything. The problem is, I do not know what soundcard my father installed in nor what driver I need to acquire.

Is there a way to scan the hard drive so that I may find out what sound card is in?

I took out the defective HP hardrive that came with my computer and put in my own Western Digital hardrive and now I dont have any drivers for my SM Bus Controller. I found an old post on here that gave a link to a driver utility but that was only for INTEL chipsets and I am on an AMD Athlon 2600.
Can someone point me towards the drivers or driver utility?
